PDR tips and the
5/16-18 thread.
The thread standard decides which tips work with which tool. Here is what fits, what doesn't, and how to keep both ends clean.
The standard
Most PDR tips — whale tails, soft tips, the pointed ones — use a 5/16-18 thread. It's coarse enough to survive daily swapping and fine enough to seat square against the tool. When a tip threads on solid and sits tight, that's the standard doing its job.
What fits what
The OG attachment takes standard 5/16-18 tips. Not a proprietary size, not something you need an adapter for — the tips already in your bag thread straight on.
That's the whole point. A tool that locks you into its own tips is a subscription, not a tool.
Keeping threads honest
Thread tips in by hand until they seat, then snug them — no wrenches. If a tip starts hard or wobbles, back it off and check for cross-threading rather than forcing it.
Keep the threads clean and dry. A worn or dirty thread shows up as play between tip and attachment, and play is the enemy of a placed tap.
