How an auto hammer attachment works

An auto hammer is a slide-hammer-style tool — a weighted shaft that delivers a short, controlled tap. On its own it's a blunt instrument. Thread an attachment onto the front and it takes the standard PDR tips you already own, which turns it into a proper dent repair machine.
Where it fits in a repair
Pull a dent and the metal rarely lands flat. Crowns rise around the repair — the panel pushes back, but not evenly. Those crowns have to come down, one measured tap at a time.
That's the attachment's job. With the right tip threaded in, you place taps exactly where the metal is high instead of guessing with whatever is on the bench. Small corrections, checked as you go.
